Benefits
Helps the metabolism of the joints in case of Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is one of the main consultations faced by the veterinary practice, around 25% of the canine population suffers from some type of arthritis. It is a chronic disease, it is often collateral to other orthopedic diseases such as dysplasia or osteochondritis, although it can occur without previous appearance of these diseases since the predisposition due to age, genetics or overweight is evident. This disease is characterized by the loss of cartilage and the formation of new bone around the joint ends up generating pain and renders the joint useless. In contrast, osteoarthritis has a degenerative and chronic character that also involves cartilage destruction at a faster rate than the body can form it and is especially painful for the patient.
A good nutritional management of this arthropathy is important since the control of overweight, as a predominant disease in terms of consultation, is one of the best ways of treatment for different causes. The stress to which the joints are subjected in overweight or obese dogs accentuates the signs of discomfort and even behavioral changes (aggressiveness, apathy…) due to the pain it generates and the limitation of mobility. It also happens that fat perpetuates chronic inflammation, obesity, through the increase of adipose tissue generates an increase in the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, so that these discomforts and consequences are aggravated.
The combination of ingredients allows addressing the nutritional treatment of the disease in a novel way, since the use of chondroprotectors (chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine) have demonstrated in countless clinical reports their efficacy in limiting synovitis and slowing the progression of the disease, favoring the metabolism of cartilage and inhibiting its loss. The use of hydrolyzed collagen is the perfect complement to the action of chondroprotectors in inhibiting collagen degradation and aiding in its regeneration. The use of functional ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties such as MSM and Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA favor the control of inflammation and joint pain. The use of probiotics generates a clear benefit in the general condition of the dog since the pharmacological management of these diseases includes the use of NSAIDs, that is why the use of probiotics is an effective tool in the management of these diseases.
